Eating in & Dining Out

Each cottage is well-equipped with all the kitchen utensils you should need for your time away. It is up to you to bring/buy the food you’ll need for your stay. Fortunately we are close to many quality food stores and supermarkets which makes life easy when staying at Church Farm.

Online deliveries are also welcomed during your stay, we only ask that you ensure that your food will be delivered at a time that you will be there.

Dining out

In and around Winsley you’ll find there are endless options when you’re looking for local restaurants, pubs and takeaways.

The Seven Stars pub is in the village, a few minutes walk or 500m drive from the farm. The food is superb, and our guests give great feedback. It’s recommended that you book in advance as it can get very busy, especially over the weekends.

The Cross Guns at Avoncliff is tucked away on the Kennet and Avon Canal in between Winsley and Bradford on Avon. Recently refurbished and now a popular pub for walkers/cyclists heading along the canal. An outdoor decking area overlooking the canal makes it an ideal choice for all the family. The sister pub ‘The Inn at Freshford‘ is also not too far away and serves equally delicious food.

Bradford-On-Avon is home to many excellent pubs, restaurants and cafes. Some of our personal favourites are:

The Castle: Great and varied menu, good quality food, friendly environment, warm and cosy feel in the winter and a beer garden for the summer. A great family hang-out!

The Bunch of Grapes: A hidden gem, with a French twist, right in the heart of Bradford on Avon. You will be welcome in at any time whether it is for your morning coffee or a fancy lunch/dinner. Definitely worth a visit, we’ve heard nothing but great things.

Ravello: A new addition to the town. Some of the tastiest Italian food we’ve had in a long time. A popular choice so book in advance to avoid disappointment.

Other places to consider if in Bradford on Avon:

  • Pablo’s Bistro (Spanish)
  • The Thai Barn
  • Pizza Amici
  • The Dandelion
  • Timbrell’s Yard

If travelling into Bath there are plenty of options suiting everyone’s needs. For something a bit more special we love Hall and Woodhouse, The Porter and The White Hart.

Takeaway

Sometimes, after a busy day sightseeing, there is nothing better than to order a takeaway for dinner. We recommend:

Chinese: Beijing Paradise in Bradford On Avon, next door to Sainsbury’s, offering a fine selection of oriental dishes to be picked up or delivered at a competitive price. A Church Farm favourite is Mongolian Crispy Lamb. BA15 2AZ, Tel: 01225 865355

Indian: The Avon Spice Company, in Bradford on Avon. A popular Indian takeaway on the hill in Silver Street, Bradford on Avon. Serves a fantastic array of Indian cuisine and will happily deliver to Winsley. Tel: 01225 868337

Pizza: Pizzeria Amici, Bradford on Avon. A busy pizzeria with the stone‐baked oven effect. A wide variety of delicious pizzas, risottos & pasta dishes to eat in, pick up or take away. BA15 1JZ. Tel: 01225 863661

Thai: The Thai Barn, Bradford On Avon. One of the best thai restaurants in the area. Also serves take-away food. BA15 1DA. Tel: 01225 866443
