Buses, taxis, trains, cycle routes,
Reliable and frequent buses pass through Winsley. Bus stops are a short walk away. One is located near Avon Park, at the top of Winsley hill, another is opposite the Seven Stars pub and there is also one is near the village shop. When arriving for your stay we can point out where the bus stops are. Here is a bus timetable so you can get an idea of how often they go.
The D1 bus is the one that passes through Winsley. It goes to all towns/villages from Bath to Salisbury.
Bradford-on-Avon has a train station. This is a 10 minute drive or short taxi ride away. Trips to Bath, Bristol and London are all made easily from Bradford-on-Avon. Try to pre-book tickets through trainline to get a cheaper price.
Bath Spa train station is also easy to get to. Again, the journey is a short drive away (approx 15 mins). Being a larger train station there are more places to get to.
The best way to travel! Exercise, environmentally-friendly and cheap. We are in an area with endless possibilities for cycling adventures.
We are keen cyclists ourselves. Here are some ideas of routes to follow:
- The Kennet and Avon Canal to Bradford or Bath (and beyond). You can pick up the Kennet and Avon Canal just 1/2 a mile from us
- The Two Tunnels
- Wiltshire Cycleway
- Colliers Way
- The Bristol and Bath Railway Path
Also note that at Church Farm we have a lockable bike storage facility which guests are welcome to use.
Here are some taxi companies that we normally go with Abbey Taxis: 01225 868111 and Bradford on Avon Taxis: 01225 862277. A journey from Bradford on Avon normally costs around £8 and from Bath it is anywhere between £12-£20 depending on the time of day
